Q: Advice on Vitamin B12 injections?
Hi i am thinking about buying Vitamin B12 injection and just wanted some advice on them lyk are they safe to take where to inject them and what colour it is suppose to be??
A: Unless you are suffering from pernicious anaemia they are of no benefit.
From the link…
“If you are experiencing tiredness and you receive a B12 injection it is only going to help if you are deficient. If you’re not, it’s just quackery,” says Collins. “There are people who attempt to prescribe vitamins like medicines and I would be concerned if people were being told to take B12 to boost their energy levels.”
Common side effects include…
Mild diarrhea. Upset stomach. Nausea
A feeling of pain and a warm sensation at the site of the injection
A feeling, or a sense, of being swollen over the entire body
Headache. Joint pain
Best left alone unless medically necessary.
Colour? Usually clear, red, sterile, nonpyrogenic, aqueous solution
Q: What’s the deal with B12 injections?
OK, here’s the deal: I found out my boss give himself vitamin B12 injections. He buys syringes at the drugstore and the B12 that is for animals at the agriculture supply. The rest you can figure out. What are the benefits? What are the dangers? I mean this can’t be good, right?
A: Vitamin B12 is used to treat various blood conditions, namely pernicious anemia. Whether your boss labors under the false impression that it invigorates him or whether he physically needs the B12 is moot. Animal medications are produced by the same companies that produce human medications…but sold a lot cheaper….i.e. Penicillin costs you about 50 cents whereas animal medication costs only a few cents. If you go to a pet store and look at the antibiotics available for fish…..erythromycin, penicillin, tetracycline, isoniazid, and even chloramphenicol are available for a fraction of the cost. Just think of a company such as Abbot Labs producing erythromycin….after they produce their nice pink capsules, they make the system dirty for producing drugs for animals…???? It is a matter of marketing, advertising and packaging. Some years ago, we were producing cortisone and selling it in American wholesale for for about 25 cents a pill, but we were selling the same product to Israel for 5 cents…You boss is clever but whether he needs the B12 is another matter.
Q: I just had Gastric Bypass this past week and need some help with Vitamins.?
I’ve been strict on drinking water, diet Cranberry Grape juice and some green teas without sugar or alternative sugars. I’ve been feeling ok but I really want to get started on vitamins as soon as possible. The Dr. recommended chewable or liquid. I’m thinking chewable will probably taste better so I think I want to try that first. I have already been on B12 injections for about 6 months because I came up deficient after being anemic. So I know I am getting that, but I am worried about the other vitamins and minerals I need. Can anyone give me some good names of cheap chewable vitamins that work? I’ll probably buy them at a Wal-mart or local drug store, if I have to drive to the city to a specialty store I will but I’d rather not….
Sorry I know that’s long, but thanks for any help.
The doctor sent me home with a list of instructions, that said to take chewable or liquid vitamins but I wanted to know which were best.
A: A regular multi-vitamin is a good place to start. Please don’t buy anything from walmart, the quality is poor and they just go right through you without leaving any of their nutrients behind.
